The TR 705 test system can be used to evaluate wear and frictional properties of materials and lubricants in sliding contact. Samples of the materials under test can be taken in a variety of configurations like:
- Ball-on-balls
- Ball-on-Disk
- Cylinder-on –Disk
- Pin-on-Disk
- Washer-on-flat
This enables researchers to test in a variety of scenarios such as point contact, line contact and area contact. Lubricant may also be introduced to the test setup. Facilities for heating of the lower test sample may also be chosen.
In the TR 705, the upper sample is mounted on a rotating shaft. The lower sample is non-rotating. The non rotating sample is pressed against the rotating sample with test load. The frictional torque developed is measured. Test load, speed of rotation and test duration can be varied.
The TR 705 test instrument comes with the WinDucom software for data acquisition and display of results. This system can record test load, speed, frictional torque and compound wear. WinDucom software is used to present data in a variety of ways and CompariView provides a powerful tool to view and compare test results for evaluation.
