The Ducom Michelle Tilting Apparatus is used to demonstrate pressure distribution in a tilting pad sliding bearing.

This instrument consists of a plate mounted above a flat belt which runs in continuous loop. The belt with its variable speed drive motor is put in oil reservoir. Oil is carried continuously by belt to the pad when it runs. Pressure distribution along the length of the bearing and across the breadth is displayed.
