The TR 352 test instrument is designed to evaluate lubricants like gear oils and cutting oils for their wear preventive and load bearing capacities.

|
- To confirm suitability of lubricants and optimizing their combination
- Study of depletion of additives in oil with use
- Ranking of lubricants in order of load bearing capacity
The tester consists of a test pin which is pressed against a friction wheel. The lower third of friction wheel is immersed in the sample oil. The rotating friction wheel carries sufficient lubricant into the tribo contact.
At the end of the test is signified by a reduction in noise. Wear scar can be analyzed to evaluate wear preventive properties of the lubricant.
Suitability of lubricant for different materials can be evaluated by varying friction wheel and pin materials.
