Job Description:
The Applications and Research Scientist works in tandem withMarketing and customer support team, Product research and development team and Applications and research team. The responsibility of an ARS is multifaceted and will include testing products for applications, publishing application notes, publishing product related technical papers, providing voice of customer to the product development team, and conducting seminars and training programs.
As a member of the marketing and customer support team, the ARS prepares technical sales literature, provides training to internal and external technical sales representatives, interacts and visits customers, attends scientific meetings, seminars and conducts seminars and workshops. Prepares a repository of sample, instrument and test images and also prepares video manuals of instruments.
As a member of the product research and development team, the ARS provides voice of the customer, benchmarking information about products available in the market and gap analysis for new feature/application addition.
As a member of the applications and research team, the ARS plans and executes experiments in relation to the applications being developed, prepares relevant technical notes and publications, presents research at seminars and conferences. The ARS also assists customers with technical and application support. The ARS also plans, executes, analyses, publishes and presents research commissioned by the company in scientific meetings and technical journals.The ARS is also expected to compile and maintain publications which acknowledge the use of Ducom tribometers.

- 0-2 year's experience inmaterials and materials characterization
- M.S or Ph.D. in Materials Science, Metallurgy or Mechanical Engineering
- Thesis or research relating to materials characterization preferably tribological characterization)
- Experience in characterization techniques like XRD, AFM, SEM, Tribometers, Nanoindenters, etc. is desirable
- Substantial knowledge of current scientific literature relating to materials and characterization techniques
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Travel 30 to 35% of time. (Domestic and international)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work with geographically dispersed teammates and organizations
- Solid skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

A technical sales engineer combines technical knowledge with sales skills. The emphasis of the work varies depending on the level of technical knowledge needed to sell products and services and respond effectively to customers queries. Our target customers are usually technical staff from non-retail organizations, such as academic and governmental research labs and industries.

The Software Development Engineer works with the Mechanical Engineering, Electronics and R&D teams to design and develop machine control, data acquisition and analysis software. Responsibilities span from software architecture design, programming, testing, debugging and software maintenance.
Documentation of the product including flowcharts, algorithms, codes, and other relevant information, software upgrades, user support and training activities also comprise of important responsibilities in this position.
Minimum requirements:
- Minimum of 2 year's experience ininstrumentation software development in industry / R&D
- Bachelors or a Master’s degree in Computers Science / Computer Engineering or equivalent
- Solid skillsin LabView
- Knowledge of communication protocols, e.g. USB, RS232, IEEE, RS485, TCP/IP, Modbus
- Knowledge of general software design/documentation processes in test and measurement systems
- Excellent problem solving skills
- Strong analytical and technical skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Good time management and organizational skills
Preferred qualifications:
- Solid skills in C and C++
